Argentina said Friday it has information that Britain sent a nuclear-armed submarine to the South Atlantic near the disputed Falkland Islands in the latest verbal salvo in a dispute over the territory.
Argentina’s Foreign Minister Hector Timerman told reporters at the United Nations that a submarine called the Vanguard with nuclear weapons was recently sent as part of Britain’s deployment in the Falklands, which Argentina calls the Malvinas. “England Sends Nukes” – you mean the United Kingdom? And why should the UK not defend its territory against an aggressive neighbour intent on colonising islands it has never owned and which were claimed and settled by Britain 51 years before Argentina even existed? Seriously deluded people.

The alarm is over nuke weapons sent (on a sub) to a hemisphere that, by agreement is barred. The UK navy ships and other nations’ ships routinely do exercises in the Caribbean Sea. Those can involve very large ships and fighter planes etc.
This nuclear armed vessle is a first so we posted it.
Lots and lots of offshore oil in the area so big powers keep up a military presence nearby.
