NRC Event Reports for 2016 OMIT the January near-critical accident at Oak Ridge nuke bomb factory.
Did you know nuke plants and nuke weapons and nuke “medicine” factories only report accidents if they feel like it? It is entirely VOLUNTARY.
We got a whiff of this stink-pot in the early news report (Feb. 6th) about the Indian Point (NY) contamination –
The Journal News –
“Entergy voluntarily notified the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, state agencies and stakeholders about the elevated levels of tritium in the monitoring wells . . . “
” . . . The US NRC relies completely upon an industry voluntary self-reporting initiative also known as the Groundwater Protection Initiative (GPI) coordinated through the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) .
Under GPI protocol, Entergy provided the State of New York with a “courtesy call” (!!!) and informed them of the tritium contamination in apparently[sic] two groundwater monitoring wells (MW-32 plus one other). NRC is handling this through the Region 1 Office of Public Affairs.”
NEI = Nuclear Energy[sic] Institute
NO NRC Event Report on Indian Point radiation leak when it happened.
Then they chime in on Feb. 11 – five days after it made headlines around the word – with this nutty assessment :
“. . . groundwater tests at Indian Point that confirm anticipated fluctuations in tritium levels” (!!!)
