rare good news!

But it’s not the truth that it’s not going in the ocean! Where else can it go? Spread on the ground? The water, land and air are the only options for nuclear waste which will be here for thousands, if not millions of years. And the US boycotted the vote for the Nuclear Weapons Ban while 122 countries voted for the ban. Crazy country we’ve been born into…nuclear weapons over healthcare. Canada, Mexico, Cuba, Japan, Russia, UK, France, Germany, Australia among many, many more countries with national healthcare while the US Congress tries to figure out a way to keep most folks from being cared for. My thought is if the US had national healthcare, maybe all these corporations wouldn’t be taking their businesses to countries with national healthcare to avoid having to pay health insurance premiums for their employees. It’s a huge savings for them. If the US had healthcare for all, perhaps we may again have an economically productive country. But no, the money goes for the military and the nuclear arsenal. Which ends up in the water.

You are right, though the taxpayer having to pay for healthcare hasn’t seemed to change the UK’s mind on nuclear. I think the US gov is counting on what BEIR 2007 calls 12 to 13 year “life-shortening” effects of nuclear in order to rob social security-medicare. The medical costs of smoking seem to have made France illegalize smoking in public places and encourage use of nicotine patches and they are now planning on starting to shut down reactors.

I can’t believe that Energy Solutions is still at Fukushima. I thought they had been fired and replaced by a company from Wash State named something like Krion. Energy Solutions is owned by Goldman Sachs “alumnus” Doug Kimmelman who did a big fundraiser for Trump and gave him several hundred thousand dollars in donations. ALPS is an old old tech that they bought. New tech has been proposed and they won’t accept it. They can filter tritium but the cost is probably high so,their profits smaller. Tritiated water has a different freezing point.

I have some ALPS headlines here –

19 07 2017

Thank you for all these, MA and FCF. So, what those articles are implying, if I’m reading them correctly, is there’s supposed to be a way to filter strontium and tritium but the system to do it simply has not been perfected yet? Is that the same story we hear about safe storage of nuclear waste? The solution is only a short time away, but in the meantime, the waste is overflowing the containers waiting to be filtered? Overflowing into where? The water, land and air? Again, I believe anyone who believes the waste water will not be dumped into the ocean really is simply not able or willing to look at the true horror of the situation.

early on, comments at ENE etc. opined they should drill tunnels underneath to direct water away into caverns. Dig tunnels they way they do thru the alps in Europe.

20 07 2017

I refound it here – it’s as much as 50 cents a liter to filter tritium and one cent to dump it. So contractors keep more money. But that is based on cost of energy, Solar panels would make it cheap. Strontium should be easy to filter as it is like calcium. Carbon filters a lot.
https://miningawareness.wordpress.com/2017/07/20/5-8-m-quake-near-ongoing-fukushima-nuclear-disaster-site-torrential-rains-threats-of-increased-dumping-of-radioactive-water-to-the-pacific/ Some people (N. America-Europe) have come up with innovations for filters but made it non-profit and USGov knows about it and may be blocking patent – anyway slow. China allowed patent. On the other hand, because the rad materials constantly change there may never be a solution other than repackage but this invention was based on algae and cheap and helped protect the metal containers.

The amounts that Sellafield dump are mind-boggling. I have a post about cheese in Cumbria that lists them. However my comparison to Switzerland isn’t perfect as they have several areas of rad discharges too. I found a list last fall for amounts allowed in Switzerland but lost it.

There are 1000 kg in a metric tonne. 1 kg and 1 liter weigh close to same. So, 1000 x 70,000 x 50 cents. But that is based on cost of energy, Solar panels would make it cheap.

It’s all about the companies running off with public money while doing it on the cheap. At least the Italian mafia dumped waste in lead-lined containers which sounds better than the legal way. That is why I thought that Trump and his mafia ties might not be worse than Obama, but Trump is funded by Energy Solutions owner. I think Fluor gave to his ball.

Talking about this article –
Swimming Robot Captures Underwater Images of Damaged Fukushima Nuclear Reactor

Dr. Leuren Moret says, “This image taken by a swimming robot at Fukushima was sent to me this morning by Kei Sugaoka, the Inspector for GE who discovered MOX fuel had been introduced to the Fukushima NPP several years before the disaster in 2011. He went to the Governor of Fukushima Prefecture who went on TV with Kei and his documents proving that MOX fuel was at Fukushima NPP. The Governor showed the public that Kei’s documents proved that TEPCO had been committing fraud and falsifying quality control and safety at the plant as normal practice.

The Governor passed a law that prohibited MOX fuel in Fukushima prefecture. That law was blatantly violated and resulted in the most dangerous global nuclear accident that has happened, and is the greatest crime in the history of humanity. All of the emergency response orders since the disaster, have been dictated from BP headquarters in England – through Pres. Obama, and Sec. of Energy Dr. Steven Chu (former Dir. Lawrence Berkeley Lab and Nobel winner), and Under Sec. Dr. Stephen Coonan (former BP top scientist and CalTech Professor).

Queen Elizabeth personally owns the entire nuclear power industry in England and BP. She gave $500 million each to Obama and to Steven Chu two years before Obama was elected Pres. Together Obama, Chu, and Koonan directed the emergency response to Fukushima and guaranteed that the disaster would be impossible to control or clean up. Queen Elizabeth is personally responsible for the irreversible outcome of the Fukushima disaster that has poisoned the entire of Planet Earth.”
