More than one elderly person, healthy in body and mind, in their mid to late 90s told me that the key to longevity was staying away from doctors (though some people do fare well with doctors and it saves their lives.). The doctors eventually got hold of them both and killed them (IMO). I did know a couple of people in their mid 50s who so hated doctors that when they did have conditions that warranted emergency medical care they refused to go and they both died. I may end up in this last bunch. One thing which has made things worse is the move away from Registered Nurses to cheaper Licensed Practical Nurses. I’ve been told by one that the LPNs know nothing when they arrive on the floor of a hospital. And, more obviously shift to for profit hospitals under Reagan has destroyed any semblance of hygiene and good medicine in many and maybe all US hospitals (IMO).

For-Profit “health” centers are death gulags IMHO.
