well the Big Island is really big and most live on the north half. Lots of big farms and coffee where the volcano is. Maybe drop him a line.

Thanks! Strange! 96 F – they mean record high for May, I guess. Uptown breaker failure, but should be used to hot weather and not everyone has AC.

I just checked and this is around 5 degrees above normal. However, I think they are having less rain than normal and so probably less cloud-cover so the buildings get hotter. Also shoddy old equipment I guess. They used to always have troubles with pumps going out during rain and causing massive flooding.

I think it’s about 40 miles away. Uptown is near downtown and Waterford is more out by Kenner (suburb) so I doubt that the outage directly impacted but maybe indirectly through power grid shifts.

I was fortunate to see old Kalapana-town before it was buried.
since hippies are allaround the jungle in various states of poverty,
there are few options for them when the air is poisoned.
Displaced poor folks are worse-impacted in the wet, humid, moldy
tropical rainy places. It is way too spendy to live in Hawai’i anyway!
Time-share sales bosses told us they won’t be able to retire there,
but must return to mainland prices when they cash out.
We have been under spoiled-rotten luxury supply conditions,
and taken it for granted for very long. The Chinese control the
ocean shipping, the Panama canal, Wal-Mart, and your US Debt.
Hawai’i can easily be starved into seige conditions, electricity cut,
fuel supplies cut, mass hysteria as folks realize too late this is
a Rock without much Food for the Masses. It is Hot and Mizzable
without your precious A.C. and you can’t get off the Rock,
because there aint no flights no more, just like Saigon!!
And you can’t breathe Hydrogen Sulfide nor Sulfur Dioxide,
and you health will deteriorate, and everybody fighting for the
last pear-banana and mango, and no firewood as you soon
find out you made no real-world preparations especially for
the Martial-Law badasses making sure to feed their own,
while hippie-dippie-everybody Tom Joads will be starving.

to Midway, and the surface expression of the underlying
magma hotspot is now pushing further east, and a new seamount
is building out there. The oldest known seafloor remaining is out
there far west, where it subducts under the asian landmasses,
and the hotspot has migrated for all these millions of island-forming

I used to pooh pooh Velikovsky and pyramid stories … but after reading Financial Vipers of Venice (has those old, old Antarctic maps) by Farrell it does make me think ‘history’ as taught is a big bunch of cr*p.
On the 24 second mark of this tsunami simulation video. it shows how big those landslides can be. Many underwater all around… from the past.
If I were there, I’d be on that golf course as long as the wind doesn’t change! No lines. Maybe have a gas mask in the golf bag.

When I had Irma pass by my island and leave wreckage and little food all the gold coins in the world wouldn’t help you. The few pawn shops and we-buy-gold joints were wrecked and still have not re-opened.
There is simply no place to take yer gold in any aftermath.
Can’t Hawaii suddenly legalize pot and revive their uncertain economy/tourism?
