Hurricane Florence Takes Aim at Many Eastern Nuke Plants

11 09 2018

They cannot have sustained power outage without devastating results. Storm surge can interfere with water intake/outflow.

Nat’l Hurricane Center – Florence

Latest WARNING

“A Storm Surge Watch means there is a possibility of life- threatening inundation, from rising water moving inland from the coastline, in the indicated locations during the next 48 hours.”

Here’s the problem – the hurricane is expected to go far inland, knocking out power, causing flooding etc. etc. – The nuke plant control rooms use conventional energy, not nuke energy and backup power generators fail after just hours of use. Fukushima blew up because the backup power didn’t happen.

I hope they don’t leave them in their pens to drown. I first thought you meant the wild boars and then I realized you meant the hog farms.

NC is a big center for factory farms …. and horrid, massive, manure slurry pools …. that cause all this salad plant poisonings because they spray fields with it to get rid of it.
A huge health crisis if millions of hogs wind up in flood waters!

I love Kevin but don’t like that he often pretends he’s the only one doing things – Donna Gilmore and some others have done so much. There are so many who have worked for decades.

HOLDEN BEACH, N.C. (Reuters) – Powerful Hurricane Florence grew larger on Tuesday and is expected to bring days of rain, deadly flooding and power outages lasting weeks after it slams into the U.S. Southeast coast later this week.
Winds and massive waves will pound coastal North and South Carolina when Florence makes landfall on Friday, and its rains will take a heavy toll for miles inland, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) warned….. (more)

This is the best shortest explanation anyone ever made, I think:
“Here’s the problem – the hurricane is expected to go far inland, knocking out power, causing flooding etc. etc. – The nuke plant control rooms use conventional energy, not nuke energy and backup power generators fail after just hours of use. Fukushima blew up because the backup power didn’t happen. “

Maybe “sometimes fail”, though I guess days is still “hours”. They had Katrina on emergency generators for a week but they had many of them lined up. I don’t know how often they changed them. Sometimes they don’t start; sometimes they overheat. They could run out of fuel. No generators they go on batteries which is really short.

In the Natural News article they claim that rad falls to zero after 10 half-lives. This is false. It’s more like 13 to 15 and really it never falls totally to zero, I am told by an Ivy League educated expert. It’s just easier to calculate with 10 and with most of these isotopes it doesn’t even matter because it is so long. So, tritium, half-life of around 12 years, will be radioactive for almost 200 years (12 x 15 is 180 years).

The storms westward movement is only 3mph.

Florence’s 1-in-100-Year Storm Surge Breaks All-Time Records by Dr. Jeff Masters.
Excerpt: Long-term storm surge records like this are very difficult to break, and speak to how large and dangerous Florence’s storm surge has been. The threat from Florence’s surge is not over yet, either–the National Hurricane Center was warning on Friday night that Florence’s storm surge could still bring water levels up to 12 feet above ground in eastern North Carolina….As of this writing (8 pm EDT), the storm surge was still rising, and stood at 4.9 feet.

I think the 7 dead will go up greatly over months ahead as weaker/old people get heart attacks etc. from the stress of homelessness or home-wrecked position. Displaced people in the millions will get the welcome mat removed in a few months.
