Hurricane Michael, then Florence then the California fire swarm in November – where are all these adrift, displaced people now?

We got this link from the US Census office –

NEW-
L.A. TimesHow Northern California’s destructive wildfires could exacerbate the state’s housing crisis
https://www.latimes.com/politics/la-pol-ca-housing-problems-wildfires-20181205-story.html

“Northern California’s recent wildfires have burned homes at a greater pace than developers are building them, deepening a housing shortage that already has left millions struggling to find affordable places to live.

Five large wildfires over the past 14 months, with November’s Camp fire the most devastating, have destroyed nearly 21,000 homes across six counties. That total is equivalent to more than 85% of all the new housing built in those counties over the past decade, according to Construction Industry Research Board building permit statistics.

“We had a housing crisis prior to the fires,” said Bob Raymer, a senior engineer with the California Building Industry Assn. “This only exacerbated the crisis. I can’t even put a measure on it. Just wow.” . . . . “

(Reuters) – The death toll in California’s deadliest wildfire was revised downward to 85 and the number of people believed missing dropped again to 11, down from a high of more than 1,200 about two weeks ago, officials said Monday.

Rebuilding Paradise, California, after it was leveled by fire three weeks ago will pose a new massive challenge to the devastated mountain community – starting with complicated insurance claims for nearly 14,000 lost homes. http://feeds.reuters.com/~r/reuters/environment/~3/zZ2u1h7Wkfk/california-wildfire-survivors-face-new-challenge-rebuilding-idUSKBN1O10D2

it is stats on “affected” – probably from census maps. So some in those numbers are “on the move” and may have 2nd home elsewhere.
They have such a mish-mosh of data on the census site I had to write them to get those links.

I noticed. You did great to get them but they did lazy. Housing stock is still a big issue with 1 million new Americans legally per year.

This article discusses how they don’t keep track. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4752119/

Tom Joad
just tryin’ ta git by without shovin’ anybody.
Henry Fonda, USA.
The propaganda must stop.
There will be no “rebuilding”, as there is no good reason
for anyone to move into a starvation situation.
There is no real economic niche.
The Game is over. The Insurance companies are as False
as the World Currencies are flexible, malleable, collapsible.
The People, the People! are just so much Soylent Green,
awaiting processing in their refugee camps, when the Scoops
(remember the movie?) will come and remove the rioting masses
and take their burgeoning carcasses to the Factory.
There is no purpose to endless overpopulation. Excepting the
evil satanic purpose, of course, of total destruction.
Just shows to Go you, about the Relative Valuations of
California Police State Properties, is it worth it to be a Mexican
Gangster Criminal Nest-Provider, as a rental Landlord?
No.
Is the Burn-out zone going to Re-Generate into even Half of
its Real Estate Value? In 20 Years? No. Those Trees were
the real beautiful, life-sustaining, erosion-controlling VALUE.
The State is doomed. Notice how Jerry Moonbeam looks
more like Don Corleone every time he gits on camera?

Jerry seems MIA at all those pressers featuring “officials” during the fire swarm.

I found this on post Katrina migration based on an intuitive hunch. I haven’t listened to it yet, but I had two hunches and the other was worthwhile. This one seems to have been as well. There will be a new book on post Katrina migration next year. https://wgso.com/podcast/delta-dispatches-october-18th-2018/
