Aggg! Hanford AGAIN! Big RADIATION LEAK! PLUS: Dam above it is leaking

Hanford nuke dump is in southeast Washington state.

The Big Wobble –
Radiation is found 10 miles away from the Hanford Nuclear Reservation as demolition work is halted after contamination of workers

” . . . Dozens of workers demolishing a plutonium processing plant from the 1940s have inhaled or ingested radioactive particles in the past year, and even carried some of that radiation into their vehicles, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.
The incidents have prompted the federal government, along with state regulators, to halt the demolition of the sprawling Plutonium Finishing Plant until a safety plan can be developed. . . . “

  • ” Radioactive particles are known to have contaminated 42 workers”
  • “Radioactive contamination was also found outside plant offices and inside two dozen vehicles”
  • “All the contamination was found on lands that are closed to the public.”
  • “The U.S. Department of Energy declared an emergency at the site at 8:26 a.m. Tuesday after a routine check found that a portion of a storage tunnel that contains radioactive waste had collapsed.

April 10 – Officials think they know why Priest Rapids Dam above Hanford is leaking

“In late March, Grant PUD declared a “non-failure emergency” out of what it described as an abundance of caution.
Checks were being done at the dam, following the detection and repair of a large crack at the Grant PUD’s Wanapum Dam upstream.”

NOTE – “abundance of caution” is legal terminology – FC

Hanford – (8-9) Radioactive plutonium and americium escape

9 08 2017

Radioactive plutonium and americium have been found in air samples collected where workers enter the secure area of the Hanford nuclear reservation in southeastern Washington, state health officials said Tuesday.

The Hanford public info website lies and says nothing happened.

Another Hanford tunnel storing radioactive waste at risk, study finds

A second tunnel storing radioactive waste at the Hanford nuclear reservation in Washington state has structural problems and is at risk of failing, according to a U.S. Energy Department investigation released Friday.

This tunnel is more than four times longer than the smaller Hanford tunnel that suffered a partial roof collapse May 9, triggering an order for more than 4,800 employees to stay indoors.

Hanford Nuke Waste Dump Holds Worker Death Records in Restricted Area

14 05 2017

Ahhh the things you find on the web these days . . .

We were looking for new items on Hanford rad waste and came across this page –

DOE Openness: Human Radiation Experiments: What’s New

And on that page you can see they keep all the info on dead workers!

Hanford Environmental Health Foundation (HEHF) Death Certificate Retrieval Records, 1970-1974, 1983-1986, 1989, 1991-1994

Did the guys driving those big dump trucks and excavators at the collapsed nuke-train tunnel this week know about that?

Did they think about wearing a gas mask but were told not to? The videos show huge amounts of dust in the air and the workers just have hard hats for safety equipment.

Washington PostTunnel appears to collapses at Hanford nuclear waste site in Washington state

You can see by the typo the nuke-puke WaPo editor fooling with the phasing and adding “APPEARS TO” in the headline. They take their readers for morons.

“Hundreds of workers at the Hanford nuclear waste site in Washington state have been ordered to “take cover” after a portion of a tunnel appeared to collapse.

The U.S. Department of Energy said it has activated its emergency operations protocol in Hanford…”

If WaPo fixes up that headline the archive of the original flub is HERE.

“The tunnel was full of highly contaminated materials such as hot radioactive trains that transport fuel rods. It connects to a PUREX (plutonium uranium extraction) building.”

They claim right away there’s NO contamination but they USE A ROBOT to look around(!)

11:13 AM

Crews are currently surveying the area near the PUREX tunnels for contamination. Crews are using hand surveying techniques in the outer areas around the PUREX facility. At and near the area of subsidence crews have deployed a TALON, which is a remote operated surveying device that is capable of radiological and industrial hygiene monitoring as well as capturing video footage. The TALON device allows crews to safely survey potential areas of contamination from a distance of up to ½ mile.”

Hanford Nuclear Site Fires Above Electrical Substation

14 08 2016

Mining Awareness +

For whatever reasons these fires seem to be going unreported. They are burning above what seems to be the Midway electrical substation on the edge of the Hanford Nuclear site. This substation presumably still provides power for the Hanford Nuclear site.
