Indian Point Nuke Plant Unit 3 Inoperable Due to Injection Pumps (2) Screw Up

NRC Report –

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION REQUIRED SHUTDOWN

“[Indian Point Unit 3] entered Technical Specification 3.0.3 for Safety Injection Boron Injection Tank Header Inoperable due to a thru weld leak at the thermal well rendering two Safety Injection Pumps Inoperable. Plant shutdown was started 1803 hours EDT.”

The licensee plans to be in Mode 4 at 0600 EDT on 9/8/2018. There is no impact to Unit 2.

The licensee notified the NRC Resident Inspector and the State of New York.
