US-Backed Death Squads Massacre Hundreds of Syrian Kurds

28 08 2013

by Stephen Lendman

Western leaders are silent. Media scoundrels ignore what demands headlines. Cold-blooded murder doesn’t matter. It’s too insignificant to report. Managed news misinformation substitutes.

Syria is America’s war. It was planned years ago. Death squads were recruited. Al Qaeda, Al Nusra, and other terrorists are Washington’s shock troops.

They’re well funded, armed, trained and directed. Their mission is mass murder and destruction. They target innocent civilians. They slaughter them in cold blood. Assad’s wrongfully blamed for their crimes.

US-sponsored aggression is called humanitarian intervention. America’s responsibility to protect reflects genocide. Post-9/11, millions died.

Mass slaughter continues. Washington bears full responsibility. Syria’s being ravaged and destroyed. Tens of thousands died. No end of conflict looms.

Death squad massacres deserves headlines. Western media point fingers the wrong way. Other times they ignore them.

On August 6, Itar Tass said “Al-Nusra Front (and/or Jabhat Al-Nusra) militants massacred 450 Kurds in northern Syria.” They “butchered” mainly “women and children.”

Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) reported the same toll. So did Syria News. It blamed extremist foreign jihadists and Free Syrian Army (FSA) “criminals.”

Mostly women and children were murdered. On August 6, Itar Tass headlined “Moscow urges Syrian government and opposition to exert efforts to oust terrorists from Syria.”

Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said militants massacred 450 Kurdish civilians. Over 100 children were included. . .  (more)

Washington’s Blog: U.S. Labels ALL Young Men In Battle Zones As “Militants” … And American Soil Is Now Considered a Battle Zone

22 06 2012

[snip] . . . Virtually every time the U.S. fires a missile from a drone and ends the lives of Muslims, American media outlets dutifully trumpet in headlines that the dead were ”militants” – even though those media outlets literally do not have the slightest idea of who was actually killed. They simply cite always-unnamed “officials” claiming that the dead were “militants.” It’s the most obvious and inexcusable form of rank propaganda: media outlets continuously propagating a vital claim without having the slightest idea if it’s true.

This practice continues even though key Obama officials have been caught lying, a term used advisedly, about how many civilians they’re killing.  . . . (more)

BBC Plays Along with Japan’s Big Lie About Tokyo Radiation

13 10 2011

After scary reports came this week about large amounts of Fukushima radiation wafting over Tokyo Japan came up with the most idiotic lie about the source. The downwardly mobile BBC chimed in with this:

Elevated levels of radiation found in a residential area of Tokyo are almost certainly not connected to the stricken Fukushima nuclear plant, say officials.
. . . But Japan’s science minister said the radiation had been traced to material stored in the basement of a house[!!!].

Local residents had been told the radiation was no threat to health.

Umm-humm. Just some old jars of plutonium stored next to the pickled cucumber down in the ol’ basement. Such a relief! Compare that suspect story with this:

Radiation in Tokyo: Over 2.7 Microsievert/Hr in Setagaya-ku on a School Route

That is the air radiation. NHK News says the number happens to be much higher than the current air radiation in Iitate-mura (2.1 microsieverts/hour at the village office) in Fukushima Prefecture, where all the villagers have had to evacuate.

Just like in Yokohama City, a citizen measured the air radiation, and alerted the municipal government who then went and measured. At least the municipal governments have started to at least respond.

The result was 2.8 microsieverts/hour. The Setagaya-ku government power-washed the 10-meter stretch of the side walk, and the radiation came down to … (hold your breath)… 2.71 microsieverts/hour. . . . (more + MAP)

Nuclear Stress Tests Have Japan’s Energy Sector Bewildered

In a surprise move, the Japanese government announced last Wednesday it would conduct safety assessments–dubbed stress tests–on all of the country’s nuclear reactors. The unexpected decision caused widespread confusion, and even consternation among some cabinet members, given that the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) had been reassuring certain prefectural and local governments that it was safe to restart their nuclear reactors.

The situation was hardly improved when on Monday the government announced that the safety assessment would use new standards and be carried out in two stages involving two entities, METI’s Nuclear and Industry Safety Commission (NISA) and the independent Nuclear Safety Commission. . . (more)

Fort Calhoun Nuke Plant Latest: The Missouri River is now expected to rise 2 feet higher at Blair, Neb., than experts predicted previously

9 07 2011

From the Omaha World Herald today –  (Blair is home of the flooded Ft. Calhoun nuclear plant) – – –

Blair update: The Missouri River is now expected to rise 2 feet higher at Blair, Neb., than experts predicted previously. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says it revised its prediction for the river near Blair because of new information it received about how fast the water is moving at that point. The Corps now says the river will rise to between 32 and 34 feet next week after releases from Gavins Point Dam increase to 150,000 cubic feet per second. The river at Blair was already at 30.16 feet Friday. That’s well above the flood stage of 26.5 feet. The Corps says the gauge at Blair doesn’t collect data on the flow rate, so a team was sent out to collect that. This adjustment doesn’t affect other locations on the river.

Levee breached again: A third partial breach of a levee south of Hamburg, Iowa, has been plugged. Mike Crecelius, emergency management director for Fremont County, said the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers spotted the breach Thursday morning.

NOTE: Google has scrubbed ALL news reports about flooded nuke plants in Nebraska (Ft. Calhoun and the one just south of it, Cooper Station).

Los Alamos, Ft Calhoun, Fukushima nuclear plant Coverups

Is The Mainstream Media Covering Up The Truth At Los Alamos, Ft. Calhoun And Fukushima?

1 07 2011

Japan, (Pal Telegraph) – What in the world is really going on at Los Alamos, Ft. Calhoun and Fukushima? There are millions of Americans that would like the truth about what is happening at these nuclear facilities, but the mainstream media has been strangely quiet. Instead, the mainstream media is running headlines such as “10 Dirtiest U.S. Beaches Named” and “Pole Dance Stops Times Square Cold”. Yes, those are actually headlines that appeared on the front pages of major mainstream news websites in the United States today. Sadly, you really have to dig to find anything about the problems that are currently happening at nuclear facilities in the United States, and the mainstream media seems to have gotten really tired of talking about Fukushima. It is almost as if the mainstream media actually prefers to talk about mindless things rather than focus on the truly important events that are happening all around us.

Look, most of us are not nuclear experts, but when one of our nuclear plants is completely surrounded by flood waters and another one is being seriously threatened by a raging wildfire we have a right to be concerned.

Sadly, the coverage by the mainstream media has been so sparse that the majority of Americans don’t even know that there are problems at Los Alamos and Ft. Calhoun. Most Americans also don’t understand how serious the Fukushima disaster really is. . .  (more)

Lies, Damn Lies, and Safe Nuclear Power

by Stephen Lendman

In any form, nuclear power is inherently unsafe. For decades, nuclear expert Helen Caldicott warned it must be abandoned, saying:
“As a physician, I contend that nuclear technology threatens life on our planet with extinction. If present trends continue, the air we breathe, the food we eat, and the water we drink will soon be contaminated with enough radioactive pollutants to pose a potential health hazard far greater than any plague humanity has ever experienced.” . . .  (more)
