Unanswered Questions About Penn State & Sandusky

12 07 2012

Checking the report on child abuse at Penn State U we have some questions.

      [ p. 55]
What gave serial-rapist Sandusky leverage with Penn State?
Why did President Spanier approve of the then unheard of payment to Sandusky of $168,000?
Why did athletic director Curley authorize an “emergency re-hire” of Sandusky after the University already finalized his retirement?
Why was the barely literate Sandusky given prestigious emeritus rank at Penn State without meeting any of the requirements?  The status gave him extra access to campus facilities where he committed crimes against children.

When Spanier, Curley and Sr. V.P. Schultz knew about the “incident” at the Lasch Building in ’98 why did they entertain Sandusky’s demand to run a middle school youth football camp nearly a year later?
Why did these 3 men kowtow to a man they knew was a predator?

Autism Speaks Takes on Penn State

Autism Speaks Co-founders Call for U.S. Attorney Investigation and Waiver of State Open Record Law in Penn State Case

The co-founders of Autism Speaks, North America’s largest autism advocacy organization, today called for the U.S. Attorney’s Office to investigate federal crimes that may have been committed in the Penn State child sexual abuse scandal and asked Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett and the university board to waive its exemption from the state open record law so that parents, families, victims and the media can have access to all records in this case since 1995. They also implored other national and local child welfare organizations to stand up and sound the alarm to protect all children everywhere.

“The horribly tragic situation at Penn State University is a sobering reminder of what can happen when the powerless have no voice and powerful institutions have no one holding them accountable,” said Bob and Suzanne Wright, Autism Speaks co-founders. “It is the cause and effect result of power dynamics at its most extreme, where institutional dominance is protected over the safety and well-being of the most vulnerable; where the most trusted have committed the most serious betrayal. . .  (more)

Penn State ignored abuse allegations, Ariz. man claims

By Cliff White – State College – Centre Daily Times

A Phoenix, Ariz., man is alleging that he tried, without success, in 2001 and 2002 to reach someone at Penn State who would act on his claims he had been sexually abused as a child by a Penn State professor.

Paul McLaughlin, 45, of Phoenix, Ariz., alleged in a news release issued by the National Center for Victims of Crime that he was 11 years old in 1977 when he began to be abused by Penn State professor John T. Neisworth and two other men. He said the abuse occurred over a period of four years in several states, including at Neisworth’s home in Julian and at his Penn State office, McLaughlin said. . .

. . . According an interview with McLaughlin in the (Harrisburg) Patriot News, McLaughlin went to Penn State’s dean of education, David Monk, and eventually had a phone conversation with university President Graham Spanier in early 2002. Both brushed him off, he said, despite his offer to share a tape recording he made of Neisworth admitting to performing oral sex on him.  . . .  (more)

What Joe Paterno Knows – “EVERYTHING” Says Matt Paknis

17 11 2011

Joe Knows Football

Former Graduate Assistant under Joe Paterno and Jerry Sandusky, Matt Paknis, says this on his blog:

Could there have possibly been an extensive preliminary report about allegations concerning Sandusky without Paterno knowing about it:

“Impossible, impossible. Joe knows everything, Joe knows everything – everything that goes on at that campus, everything that goes on clearly in the football program. They actually called him….because I had some friends that were in graduate school when Joe was there, they might have been GAs, one of the guys I coached with early in my life Dave Pagneti, he said they called Joe ‘The Rat’, and that’s been confirmed by other guys that have played there because he would go to Rip Engle and say ‘that guy drank a beer, that guy missed a class, he would never address the guys directly. So that was always his M.O. He would always have the leverage, but he would never address the guys, he would go to Rip and use that leverage.”

Mark Madden, PA radio host says everyone knew –

 Sandusky a State secret

[snip] . . . Allegations of improper conduct with an underage male first surfaced in 1998, while Sandusky was still employed by Penn State. That incident allegedly occurred in a shower at Penn State’s on-campus football facility. No charges were filed.

Sandusky retired the next year, in 1999. He was 55, prime age for a coach. Odd, to say the least – especially with Joe Paterno thought even then to be ready to quit and Sandusky a likely, openly-discussed successor.

It seems logical to ask: What did Paterno know, and when did he know it? What did Penn State’s administration know, and when did they know it?  . . .  (more)

Madden writes more recently:

Happy Valley will get even lower

“The Penn State child sex abuse scandal will get much worse before it gets even a little better. The ultimate target of the investigation is The Second Mile, not Penn State…”

BREAKING – – Report: Sandusky ‘Pimped Out’ Boys + UPDATES

16 11 2011

From The Daily Beast

A sportswriter claimed on Thursday that former Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky, who has been charged with more than 40 counts of sexual abuse, “pimped out” young boys to wealthy donors. While Mark Madden did not offer any facts to back up the claim, he wrote six months ago about Sandusky’s alleged sex crimes in the Beaver County Times, long before they were on anyone else’s radar. Madden also suggested on Thursday that Sandusky, who retired in 1999, was actually forced to leave his job “in exchange for a cover up.” Police had investigated Sandusky in 1998 for allegedly molesting a boy but did not prosecute him.

This is an unconfirmed RUMOR so far.

But it is not the only news outlet hinting at a boy-pimp-ring on the PA campus. Chimimg in is this is Forbes contributor Susan Murphy-Milano. She writes in her op-ed column “The Tornado at Penn State” –

An adult, in a distinguished social position of prominence and public trust, Jerry Sandusky, is accused of engaging in serial predatory sexual activities with minor children spanning decades for the purpose of his own sexual gratification and addiction, and possibly offered the sexual favors of children to others. . .
