Caught on Camera: Fukushima Mayhem Last Night

Lots of bright flashing, the usual billowing black smoke joined by white smoke or steam in the rain last night. Then a light show of great porportions.

Fukushima Stack Appears to be Listing

Looking at the LIVE CAM at Fukushima it appears the big stack is tilting to the right.

To check we did a screen grab and put grid marks on the image using Paint.

Red box is computer-squared so it has no error in straightness. The up and down line on the right half of the image is next to a tall wall to demonstrate if the camera is tilted or not. The camera does not seem to be askew. The blow-up image is at the bottom – click on it for full size.

Some odds ‘n ends –

The TEPCO cam showed blood red smoke intermittently today. At 7 a.m. (EST) it appeared and dissipated and reappeared about 7:08. 7:08 is 20:08 on the screen shot time-stamp.

At 7:18 while not yet raining from the approaching typhoon the camera began to shake.

The TEPCO cam is off by over 40 seconds (at a NUKE PLANT!).

The home computer is set accurately to the Atomic Clock via Say the Time. It is corrected usually by less than a second per day when updated and it was updated to be correct just before doing the screen grab.
